Tjawina Porter Nampitjinpa

Born circa 1950 at Tjukurrla, North of Docker River in Western Australia.

Her works are rich in ethnographic iconography and image the stories of her mother and her father.

Tjawina Porter Nampitjinpa (Mrs Porter) is the half sister of Nyurapayia Nampitjinpa (Mrs Bennett). Mrs Porter grew up in the bush living a traditional life with her family, and after the death of her younger brother the family moved to the Papunya settlement during the 1960s.

Initially, Mrs Porter was known for her skill as a traditional basket weaver. She has now developed into a prominent painter in the region. Her works are rich in ethnographic iconography and image the stories of her mother and her father.
